Essay - The Importance of Reading Newspaper

Introduction: The papers which supply us news and views of home and abroad are called newspapers. They are very important for us. The civilized world cannot be thought without newspaper. People feel highly delighted when they start reading newspapers.  

History of newspaper: It is very difficult to know where newspaper was first introduced. It is said that the first newspaper was published at Venice in Italy. It is also said that a kind of newspaper was introduced in China during eleventh century. However, 'Samachar Darpan' was the first newspaper of Bengal. It was published by the missionaries of Sreerampur. The India-Gazette is the first newspaper in Indo-Bangladesh. Now-a-days various newspapers are being published in various designs and manners. 

Kinds of newspaper: There are many kinds of newspapers, such as Dailies, Weeklies, Bi-Weeklies, Monthlies, Half Yearly and Yearly. Of these, most of the people read the dailies because they give us fresh news and views of the day. 

Newspapers in Bangladesh: In Bangladesh, there are various kinds of newspapers. People are becoming more and more interested in reading newspapers. With the C advancement of scientific technology, our country has got The Ittefaq, The Inquilab, The Jugantor, The Sangram, The Sangbad, The Janakantha, The Independence, The Bangladesh Times. The Bangladesh Observer and so on. Apart from these, there are numerous regional newspapers in our country too.  

Importance of newspapers: Newspapers are very useful to us. They carry news and views. By reading newspaper, people are highly benefited. They feel greater interested in reading newspapers. The reading of newspaper exhorts them to reach the news world. The importance of reading newspapers are written below:

 (i) Sources of news and views: Newspapers are the sources of news and views. They give current news of home and abroad. By reading newspapers, people can understand what is happening in the farthest corners sitting on easy chair. Along with these news, they can read the important views of prominent personalities. The editorials and the sub-editorials also reflect analytical and critical explanations. Thus the reading of newspapers helps the readers to be strengthened in information world. 

(ii) Formation of public opinion: Newspapers help to form public opinion. The government, political parties, or organizations can create public opinions by means of newspapers. Sometimes the newspapers reflect on the opinions of the public directly by publishing their interviews. The people also express their opinions on newspapers. Thus newspapers play a great role to form public opinion and judgments.  

(iii) The tool of the government: Newspapers become the tool of the government. The government can easily inform the citizens about its orders, laws and ordinances. The government can also inform the citizens about new polices, decisions etc. Thus newspapers become tools of the government to run its functions.  

(iv) Role in democracy: In the establishment of democratic norms, newspapers can play a vital role. Here everyone can express their feelings. The reactions and opinions of political parties are published here. By reading these, people can understand the parties opinion. These help to accelerate democracy in a country.  

(v) Formation of friendship: Newspapers help to form friendship world-wide. People can understand each other. World people know each others information. Reading the newspapers, one can understand the distress of other countries and go to help them. This can create opportunities to grow fellow feelings and friendship. 

(vi) Importance to businessmen and job seekers: The newspapers help a lot to the businessmen and job- seekers. The businessmen can advertise their products or can know the market conditions. The customers can also understand the quality of products. Again, the job seekers can know the job-advertisements. Thus, the reading of newspapers helps the job-seekers to get jobs. 

Demerits of newspapers: Newspapers have immense benefits. So newspapers should be free and impartial. Biased or partial newspapers can harm a lot. False news may derail the public. Thus newspapers must publish authentic and reliable information.  

Conclusion: The importance of reading newspapers are many. Various sorts of things can be known by reading this. Business, politics, sports, literature, religion etc. are learnt by reading newspapers. We wish its impartiality and reliability. 

রচনা - সংবাদপত্র পাঠের গুরুত্ব

ভূমিকাঃ কাগজ যা আমাদেরকে দেশ ও বিদেশের সংবাদ দৃশ্য সরবরাহ করে তাকে সংবাদপত্র বলা হয়। এটি আমাদের জন্য খুব গুরুত্বপূর্ণ। সভ্য বিশ্ব সংবাদপত্র ছাড়া চিন্তা করতে পারে না। মানুষ যখন সংবাদপত্র পাঠ শুরু করে, তখন তারা খুব আনন্দ অনুভব করে।  

সংবাদপত্রের ইতিহাস: কোথায় প্রথম সংবাদপত্রের সূচনা হয়েছিল এটি জানা খুব কঠিন। বলা হয় যে ইতালির ভেনিসে প্রথম সংবাদপত্র প্রকাশিত হয়েছিল। আরো বলা হয় যে একাদশ শতাব্দীতে চীন দেশে এক ধরনের সংবাদপত্র প্রকাশিত হয়েছিল। যাহোক, বাংলার প্রথম সংবাদপত্র 'সমাচার দর্পণ'। এটি শ্রীরামপুরের মিশনারীরা প্রকাশ করেছিল। ইন্ডিয়ান-গেজেট ইন্দো-বাংলাদেশের প্রথম সংবাদপত্র। বর্তমানে বিভিন্ন নকশা ও রীতিতে সংবাদপত্র প্রকাশিত হচ্ছে। সংবাদপত্রের ধরন। বিভিন্ন ধরনের সংবাদপত্র আছে, যেমন দৈনিক, সাপ্তাহিক, অর্ধসাপ্তাহিক, মাসিক, অর্ধবার্ষিক ও বার্ষিক। এদের মধ্যে অধিকাংশ লোক দৈনিকটি পড়ে কারণ এটি আমাদেরকে দিনের তরতাজা খবর ও ছবি দেয়। 

বাংলাদেশে সংবাদপত্রঃ বাংলাদেশে বিভিন্ন প্রকার সংবাদপত্র আছে। মানুষ আরো আরো বেশি সংবাদ পাঠে আগ্রহী হয়ে উঠছে। বৈজ্ঞানিক প্রযুক্তির অগ্রগতির সাথে, আমাদের দেশ ইত্তেফাক, ইনকিলাব, যুগান্তর, সংগ্রাম, সংবাদ, জনকণ্ঠ, প্রথম আলো, ইন্ডিপেন্ডেন্স, বাংলাদেশ টাইমস্, বাংলাদেশ অবজারভার ইত্যাদি পত্রিকা পেয়েছে। এছাড়া, আমাদের দেশে অসংখ্য আঞ্চলিক সংবাদপত্র আছে।

সংবাদপত্রের গুরুত্ব: সংবাদপত্র আমাদের কাছে খুব প্রয়োজনীয়। এটি সংবাদ Essay ও ছবি বহন করে। সংবাদপত্র পাঠ করে মানুষ অত্যন্ত উপকৃত। তারা সংবাদপত্র পাঠে খুব আনন্দ অনুভব করে। সংবাদপত্র পাঠ তাদেরকে নতুন বিশ্বে পৌঁছতে প্রণোদিত করে। সংবাদপত্র পাঠের গুরুত্ব নিম্নে প্রদত্ত হলো: 

(i) সংবাদ ও ছবির উৎস: সংবাদপত্র সংবাদ ও ছবির উৎস। এটি দেশে ও বিদেশের চলতি খবর প্রদান করে। সংবাদপত্র পাঠ করে মানুষ আরাম কেদারায় বসে দূরবর্তী কোণে কি ঘটেছে তা জানতে পারে। এসব সংবদাপত্রের সাথে, তারা বিখ্যাত ব্যক্তিত্বদের গুরুত্বপূর্ণ মতামত পড়তে পারে। সম্পাদকীয় ও উপসম্পাদীয়তেও বিশ্লেষণমূলক ও সমালোচনামূলক ব্যাখ্যা প্রতিফলিত হয়। এভাবে সংবাদপত্র পাঠ পাঠককে তথ্যদায়ক বিশ্বে অধিকতর সবল হতে সাহায্য করে।  

(ii) জনমত গঠন: সংবাদপত্র জনমত গঠনে সহায়তা করে। সরকার, রাজনৈতিক দল অথবা সংস্থা সংবাদপত্রের মাধ্যমে জনমত গঠন করতে পারে। কোন কোন সময় সংবাদপত্র তাদের সাক্ষাৎকার প্রকাশ করে জনগণের সরাসরি প্রতিফলন ঘটায়। জনগণও তাদের মতামত সংবাদপত্রে প্রকাশ করে।  এভাবে সংবাদপত্র জনমত ও রায় গঠনে বিরাট ভূমিকা পালন করে।  

(iii) সরকারের হাতিয়ার: সংবাদপত্র সরকারের হাতিয়ার। সরকার সহজেই তার আদেশ, আইন ও অধ্যাদেশ সংবাদপত্রের মাধ্যমে নাগরিকদের জানাতে পারে। সরকার নাগরিকদের নতুন নীতিমালা, সিদ্ধান্ত ইত্যাদিও জানাতে পারে। এভাবে সংবাদপত্র সরকারের কার্যাবলি চালাতে তার হাতিয়ার হয়। 

(iv) গণতন্ত্রের ভূমিকা: গণতান্ত্রিক আদর্শ প্রতিষ্ঠায় সংবাদপত্র অত্যাবশ্যকীয় ভূমিকা পালন করতে পারে। এখানে প্রত্যেকে তাদের অনুভূতি প্রকাশ করতে পারে। রাজনৈতিক দলের প্রতিক্রিয়া ও মতামত এখানে প্রকাশিত হয়। এসব পাঠ করে, জনগণ দলের মতামত বুঝতে পারে। এসব দেশে গণতন্ত্রের গতি বর্ধিত করতে সাহায্য করে।  

(v) বন্ধুত্ব গঠন: সংবাদপত্র বিশ্বব্যাপী বন্ধুত্ব গঠনে সহায়তা করে। বিভিন্ন  দেশের সংবাদ সংবাদপত্রে প্রকাশিত হয়। মানুষ একে অপরেকে বুঝতে পারে। বিশ্বের জনগণ একে অপরের তথ্য জানতে পারে। সংবাদপত্র পাঠ করে, যে কেউ অন্যান্য দেশের বিপর্যয় জানতে পারে ও সাহায্যের জন্য যেতে পারে। এটি সহযোগিতা ও বন্ধুত্ব সৃষ্টির সুযোগ সৃষ্টি করতে পারে। 

(vi) ব্যবসায়ী ও চাকরি সন্ধানকারীদের কাছে গুরুত্ব: সংবাদপত্র ব্যবসায়ী ও  চাকরি সন্ধানকারীদের প্রচুর সাহায্য করে। ব্যবসায়ীরা তাদের উৎপন্ন পণ্যের বিজ্ঞাপন দিতে পারে অথবা বাজার অবস্থা জানতে পারে। ক্রেতারাও উৎপন্ন দ্রব্যের গুণাবলি সম্বন্ধে জানতে পারে। আবার, চাকরি প্রার্থীরা চাকরির বিজ্ঞাপন জানতে পারে। এভাবে সংবাদপত্র পাঠ চাকরি প্রার্থীদের চাকরি পেতে সাহায্য করে।  

সংবাদপত্রের অপকারিতা: সংবাদপত্রের বিশাল উপকারিতা আছে। তাই সংবাদপত্র মুক্ত ও নিরপেক্ষ হওয়া উচিত। প্রবণতা বা পক্ষপাতী সংবাদপত্র প্রচুর ক্ষতি করতে পারে। মিথ্যা খবর জনগণকে পথভ্রষ্ট করতে পারে। এভাবে সংবাদপত্রকে অবশ্যই তথ্যভিত্তিক ও বিশস্ত সংবাদ প্রকাশ করা উচিত। 

উপসংহার: সংবাদপত্র পাঠের গুরুত্ব অনেক। এটি পাঠ করে বিভিন্ন ধরনের জিনিস জানা যায়। সংবাদপত্র পাঠ করে ব্যবসায়, রাজনীতি, খেলাধুলা, সাহিত্য, ধর্ম ইত্যাদি জানা যায়। আমরা এর পক্ষপাতহীনতা ও বিশ্বস্ততা কামনা করি।
