Essay - Arsenic Problem

Introduction: Bangladesh is a small country with growing problems. Among all problems, arsenic is a great one. The problem has spread its evil clutch all over the country. It is going from bad to worse. All are getting concerned with this problem. 

What is arsenic ? : Arsenic is a brittle semi-metallic element. It is poisonous. It kills a man slowly.

Where found: Arsenic is becoming an acute problem in Bangladesh. Many districts of the country are affected by the problem. The ground water is contaminated with arsenic. The tube-well water is also not safe. So, a crisis of drinking water is going on across the country. Finding no alternative, many people are still drinking arsenic mixed water. 

Results: Everyday many people are affected by arsenic. Thousands of people have all ready been affected by it. Many have died. Many are suffering to die. This poison causes severe sore and black spots in fingers. The sore turns into cancer. Thus it pushes a man to death. It also damages our kidney, liver, stomach etc. Severe cough and hair falling can be caused by the poison. Diarrhoea may accompany too. 

Ways of solution: The following measures can be prescribed to solve the problem. Firstly, arsenic-free water must be ensured in affected areas. Secondly, medicine and balanced food should be given to the affected people. Thirdly, more deep tube-wells should be sunk. Fourthly, mass awareness should be increased. Fifthly, arsenic affected tube-wells should be marked. Sixthly, electronic and print media should play an important role. Last of all, the government should take massive programmes to make the country arsenic free.

Conclusion: In fine, we can say that arsenic is a great problem. The problem should be solved at any cost. It is high time we solved the problem. Conscious people should work together with the Government in this regard. Otherwise, we all fall into a great danger.

ভূমিকা : বাংলাদেশ বাড়ন্ত সমস্যাগ্রস্ত একটি ছোট দেশ। সব সমস্যার মধ্যে আর্সেনিক সমস্যা অন্যতম। সমস্যাটি প্রবলভাবে দেশের সর্বত্র ছড়িয়ে পড়েছে। এটা খারাপ থেকে চরম খারাপের দিকে যাচ্ছে। এ সমস্যার জন্য সবাই উদ্বিগ্ন ।

আর্সেনিক কি : আর্সেনিক হলো সহজে ধ্বংস হয় না এমন অর্ধ-ধাতব affected by it. উপাদান। এটা বিষাক্ত। এটা ধীরে ধীরে মানুষকে মেরে ফেলে।

যেখানে পাওয়া যায় : বাংলাদেশে আর্সেনিক সমস্যা প্রকট হচ্ছে। দেশের অনেক জেলা এ সমস্যা দ্বারা আক্রান্ত ৷ ভূর্গভস্থ পানি আর্সেনিক দ্বারা দূষিত। টিউব ওয়েলের পানিও নিরাপদ নয়। তাই, সমগ্র দেশে খাবার পানির সংকট বেড়ে যাচ্ছে। কোন উপায় খুঁজে না পেয়ে, অনেক মানুষ আর্সেনিক মিশ্রিত পানি পান করছে। 

ফলাফল : প্রতিনিয়ত মানুষ আর্সেনিক দ্বারা আক্রান্ত হচ্ছে। এর দ্বারা হাজার হাজার মানুষ ইতিমধ্যে আক্রান্ত হয়েছে। অনেকে মারা গেছে। অনেকে মৃত্যুর কবলে ভুগছে। এই বিষ মারাত্মক ক্ষতের সৃষ্টি করে এবং আঙুলে কালো দাগ পড়ে। ক্ষত ক্যান্সারে পরিণত হয় । এভাবে এটা একজন মানুষকে মৃত্যুর মুখে ঠেলে দেয়। এটা আমাদের মূত্রাশয়, যকৃৎ, পাকস্থলী প্রভৃতির ক্ষতি করে। এ বিষক্রিয়ার জন্য মারাত্মক কাশি এবং চুল পড়তে পারে। এর সঙ্গে ডায়রিয়াও হতে পারে। 

সমাধানের উপায় : এ সমস্যা সমাধান করতে উল্লিখিত পদক্ষেপ নির্দেশ করা যেতে পারে । প্রথমত, আক্রান্ত এলাকায় অবশ্যই আর্সেনিক মুক্ত পানি নিশ্চিত করতে হবে। দ্বিতীয়ত, আক্রান্ত মানুষকে ওষুধ এবং সুষম খাবার দিতে হবে। তৃতীয়ত, অধিক গভীর নলকূপ খনন করা উচিত। চতুর্থত, গণসচেতনতা বৃদ্ধি করা উচিত। পঞ্চমত, আর্সেনিক আক্রান্ত টিউবওয়েলগুলো চিহ্নিত করতে হবে। ষষ্ঠত, ইলেকটনিক এবং প্রচার মাধ্যমগুলোর গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা রাখা উচিত। সবশেষে, দেশকে আর্সেনিক মুক্ত করতে সরকারের ব্যাপক কর্মরসূচি গ্রহণ করা উচিত।

উপসংহার : পরিশেষে, আমরা বলতে পারি যে আর্সেনিক একটি বড় সমস্যা। যে কোন মূল্যে সমস্যাটির সমাধান করা উচিত। সমস্যাটির সমাধান করার এটাই উপযুক্ত সময়। এ বিষয়ে সরকারের সাথে সচেতন মানুষদের কাজ করা উচিত। অন্যথায়, আমরা বড় একটা বিপদে পড়ব।
