This movement was initiated primarily by university students. At first they focused on restructuring quota-based systems for government job recruitment but the movement expanded against autocratic government. The fascist government brutally killed protestors and civilians, most of whom were students. Then the student movement escalated and later culminated into a fully-fledged mass uprising known as the Student–People's uprising.
