The Piyain River goes in wavy lines like a snake. Jaflong has long sandy areas and sometimes small islands appear during the dry season. There are white rocks all over the beach. At midday, the rocky beach looks shiny like a mirror. In the rainy season, Jaflong looks different. The blue hills become green and when they are reflected in the water, the water also looks green.

When it rains a lot in a place called Shillong Plateau, the Piane River can get really full and cause fast floods. The floods bring lots of stones with them, and the people who live there, called Jaflong people, make a living by collecting these stones. If you look along the river, you can see big piles of stones and people taking them out of the river. On the other side of the river, there is a village called Khasia where the Khasia tribe lives. They build their houses high up on bamboo platforms to stay safe from the floods. They also have gardens where they grow a plant called betel and orange trees. The branches of the orange trees bend down because they have lots of oranges on them.

Jaflong is a great place to visit all year round. It looks different and beautiful in different seasons. But the best time to go is during the rainy season from July to September. In the rainy season, you can have fun doing boat rides and water sports. In the winter, you can enjoy walking and taking pictures on the sandy beaches.

One of the coolest things to see in Jaflong is a big waterfall called Sangrampunji Falls. The people who live there also call it 'Mayabi Jharna'. It's a really big waterfall that is found at the bottom of the Khasia-Jainta hills, not too far from Zero Point beaches. The way the mountains, rivers, and waterfalls come together here is really beautiful.
