Each city is special and has its own unique qualities like its land, past, buildings, culture, environment, food, and wine. This list of the best cities in Italy includes some popular ones and also some hidden treasures that not many people know about. It's not a complete list, but it's a good place to start if you're new to Italy and want some ideas of where to go.

1. Venice

Let us commence our exploration with what can be argued as one of the most renowned and captivating cities in Italy - the enchanting Venice!

Venice is undeniably one of the top destinations in Italy for first-time travelers. Despite being pricier than other Italian cities, it is considered a must-visit for its unique charm and beauty.

Venice, with its stunning canals, magnificent Doge's Palace, and abundant historical landmarks and art galleries, offers a complete package for visitors. However, be prepared to navigate through the labyrinthine alleys and waterways, as they can be quite perplexing. But don't fret! Embrace the experience of getting lost, as it often leads to discovering hidden gems and extraordinary locations.

Additionally, I recommend avoiding the busy main streets for dinner as prices tend to be inflated there. Just a short walk from the bustling plazas and avenues, you can discover hidden gems of restaurants that offer delicious meals at more affordable prices. The same goes for gelato – venture off the beaten path to find the best and most reasonably priced treats.
