What's one of the last remaining chunk of rain forest in Bangladesh?
Lawachara is one of the last remaining chunk of rain forest in Bangladesh. Lawachara National Park is located roughly 160 km northeast of Dhaka, 60 km south of the town of Sylhet in the civil executive units of Kamalganj Upazilla, Maulvibazar District – about 10 kilometers from the city of Srimangal. The Park incorporates the southern and eastern corridor of West Bhanugach Reserved Forest, within Lawachara, Chautali and Kalachara Beats, Moulvibazar Range, Sylhet Forest Division. The area was formally established as a National Park in 1996, incorporating an area of 1,250 hectares.
Numerous of the voluminous mammal species have long since faded from the Park area (e.g. barracuda , leopards, bears, feral tykes , and sambar) presumably as a connected result of stalking and niche fragmentation. still, feasible populations of numerous fragile and medium sized mammal species that can survive in perturbed or secondary habitats(e.g., jackals, fragile cats, barking deer, savage pigs) still remain. The Park also supports important populations of; gibbons, langurs and macaques. Two of these( hoolock gibbon and limited langur) are crucial index species for the evolution and perpetration of sustentation measures then.
The Park and conterminous Reserved Forest support a proved avifauna of 337 species, one third of the grand raspberry species known from Bangladesh. The avifauna includes a voluminous number of species that are dependent on thick ground cover and leafage( 47 species) and/ or forest cover( 175 species). The Park is also allowed to support a rich diversity of other faunal groups( reptiles, pets, some fishes and amphibians). Still, veritably little information on these groups is presently accessible. Eventually, the Park is drained by a number of fragile, sandy bedded aqueducts, all of which dry up following the end of the stormy season in October November. Although limited in extent, submarine territories and riparian (streamside) foliage are important rudiments of common niche composition. Both of these rudiments are allowed to harbor technical factory and beast species although supplies are deficient.
What are several other alike forest areas near Lawachara Satchari National Park?
There are several other alike forest areas near Lawachara. Satchari National Park and Rema- Kalenga Wildlife Sanctuary are two similar forest areas hard. But those two areas are some distance behind Lawachara in tours of evolution for ecotourism. This is the main argument behind election of Lawachara as my first adventure into the world of rain forests.
