Ahsan Manzil( Ahsan Monjil) was the sanctioned domestic palace and seat of the Nawab of Dhaka. The structure is positioned at Kumartoli along the banks of the Buriganga River in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Construction was started in 1859 and was completed in 1872. It was constructed in the Indo- Saracenic Revival armature. It has been designated as a public gallery.
History of Ahsan Manzil
In Mughal period, there was a theater house of Sheikh Enayet Ullah, the landlord of Jamalpur Porgona( quarter), in this place. Sheikh Enayet Ullah was a veritably fascinating person. He acquired a veritably big area in Kumortuli( Kumartuli) and included it in his theater house. Then he erected a beautiful palace and named it Rongmohol( Rangmahal). He used to enjoy then keeping beautiful girls collected from the country and abroad, dressing them with gorgeous dresses and precious beautifiers. There's a saying that, the foujdar of Dhaka( representative of Mughal emperor) was attracted to one of the beautiful girls. He invited Sheikh Enayet Ullah to a party one night and killed him in a conspiracy when he was returning home. That girl also committed self-murder in wrathfulness and anguish. There was a grave of Sheikh Enayet Ullah in the north- east corner of the palace yard which was ruined in the morning of the 20th century Description and construction Ahsan Manzil is one of the most significant architectural monuments of Bangladesh.
The structure of Ahsan Manzil
structure was established on a raised platform of 1 cadence, the two-fabled palace measures125.4 m by28.75 m. The height of the first bottom is 5 measures and the height of the first bottom is5.8 measures. The consistence of the walls of the palace is about0.78 measures. There are porticos of 5 measures height on the northern and southern sides of the palace. The structure has a broad frontal- facing the Buriganga River. On the swash side, an open commodious stairway leads right over to the alternate gate and on their daises the grand triadic- arched doors. There was formerly a root in the theater in front of the stairs which doesn't live moment. All along the north and the south side of the structure run commodious stoops with an open sundeck projected in the middle.
