Devtakhum

In Marma language, the word “ Khum ” means Waterfall. Bandarban is called the area of all Khums. In Bandarban, Debotakhum is called the king of all Khum. To the locals it's “ Sonakhum ” and  numerous also call it “ Thanchikhum ” in Marma language. According to the locals, this Khum is about 50- 60  bases deep & 600 feet long which is  considerably bigger than Velakhum and much  further wild. 

How was Devtakhum named?

Although the name is Devtakhum, no  hero ( statue of God) of the Hindu Community is  set up then. This place has a story also behind the name. And the name was taken by the  lineage people.   It's known from the  native locals then. According to them, there's a huge tortoise or an unnamed beast live in this Khum. Whose weight is  further than 80 kg. numerous people have seen this unnamed beast or  critter with their own eyes in the Khum’s water. They consider this  critter to be a God. In  lavaliere  the word Debota means “ God ”. For which the name of this place is Devtakhum.

Devtakhum is situated in Roangchhari upazila of Bandarban. Debotakhum’s trail is as beautiful as it's  intimidating. There are  numerous big hills around the Jhorna. There are about 100  measures of steep hills on both sides of Devtakhum. Whose name is Sippy Aisuang Hill. Sippy Aisuang is a 2939  bases high hill located on the eastern border of Bandarban on the Indian border.

How to go to Devtakhum?

Dhaka to bandarban By Bus

At first, you can go to Bandarban from Dhaka by Bus. numerous  motor vehicle companies are  handed services of travelling Dhaka to Bandarban  similar as Eagle,S. Alam, Shanti, Shyamoli, Saudia, Saint Martin etc Paribahans AC & non AC service are available in this route. 

Dhaka to Chittagong by Train

There are so  numerous train services departs from Kamalapur, Dhaka for Chittagong. The intercity train Subarna Express, Mohanagar Provati, Karnaphuli Express, Mohanagar Goduli, Sonar Bangla Express, Turna Express etc are available for Chittagong.

 Dhaka to Chittagong by air:

 From Dhaka’s Shahjalal International Airport- Biman Bangladesh, United air, Regent Air, Novo Air and US Bangla Air fly daily to Shah Amanat International Airport in Chittagong.  Chittagong to Bandarban by bus You can go to Bandarban from Chittagong. Pubali and Purbani Paribahan  motorcars run from Baddarhat to Bandarban. 

After reaching at Bandarban Town (Bandarban  bus station), you can hire Chander Gari( Jeep) CNG/ Motor bike/ regional bus to Roangchhari. also walk for an hour and a half on foot.  Still, first you have to go from Roangchhari to Kachhapchhari Army Camp and  journey to Shilbandha Para ( Liragong) with  authorization, If you want to go to Devtakhum. Going to Shilbandha, you have to cross Pong Su Aung Khum first. Debotakhum begins after Pong Su Aung Khum is crossed.

You can come to Bandarban  town from Devtakhum( Day trip). There are so  numerous  hotels, Motels,  lodges or resorts in Bandarban  city. They are- Sairu Hill Resort, Holiday Inn Resort, Hillside Resort, Hotel Plaza, Venus Resort PVs Ltd, Fanush Resort, Bono Nibash Hill Resort, Nilachol Nilambori Resort, Hotel Night Heaven, Hotel Hillton etc. According to your budget you'll find both cheap and  precious options to stay in those  hospices, motels, resorts and  lodges.
